Climbing Shoes and Rock Climbing Shoes
No matter how high you want to climb to fulfill your desire, you are sure to find a pair of shoes that meets the demand. There are wide varieties of climbing shoes available in the market, unveiling new technologies each year to develop more improved climbing shoes.
Basically a type of footwear designed for rock-climbing, the climbing shoes are close-fit, slightly padded shoes with smooth, sticky rubber soles. As the shoes are close-fit, it is not necessary to wear socks beneath them. The soles being sticky and smooth, climbing shoes are unfavorable for walking and hiking. Hence, rock climbers carry their climbing shoes with them to the base of rocky area.

Climbing shoes, now-a-days, use carefully crafted multi-piece patterns which fit closely to wearer feet. They are manufactured around a 3D structure called “LAST”, which determines the fittings of the shoe. Lasts are molded in a shape of ideal rock-climbing feet. Lasts can be “board-lasts”, or, “slip-lasts”. The slip-lasted shoes, which are constructed as a strong sock slipped on a last, are more sensitive and flexible than board-lasted shoes. The climbing shoes also contain a “MIDSOLE” which is often cupped or curved to focus power on toes or stiffen the toe boxes. The “UPPERS” of climbing shoes are made up of synthetic leather which is more consistent than real leather and offer minimal stretch.
For better fit, lace-up climbing shoes are preferable. Take your time selecting the best climbing shoes for you.
