As in early 1900s, elegant handmade shoes & boots, usually laced-up, with pointed toes along with moderately high heels were popular. Neat & simple suede and polished leather shoes along with expensive lizard & croc-skin shoes were used in 20s. The characteristic of 20's was the use of single or t-strap across the feet. Open-toed & sling back shoes with platform soles or wedged heels became the fashion shoes for the 30's. In the 40's, due to the effects of World War II, leather use was restricted; thus, shoes with heavy wooden soles & wedge heels became popular in 40s. By 1947, plain high-heel court shoes for women were introduced, which were finely strapped around ankles. Strappy sandals & flat ballet pumps were the main fashion shoes in 50s. From 60s to 80s different boots formed the major fashion shoes. In 80s, sneakers dominated as fashion shoes. The 90s till present time, strappy sandals with low chunky heels, wedges or very high heels were considered to be the latest fashion shoes.
