Style dictates hazards – that's the fact when it is about the high-heel shoes, or just, high-heels. Yes, foot and tendon problems are often reported in cases of long term use of high-heel shoes. But, when it comes to fashion, high-heel shoes are always the first choices amongst fashion footwear.
High-heel shoes raise the user's heel significantly from the toe. More specifically, when, heels of shoes are above 8.5cm, they are called high-heel shoes. Modern day high-heel shoes are typically meant for women. The heels vary in height considerably – starting from 1.5 inch Cuban heel, upto the Stiletto heel of greater than 4 inches. Stiletto heels or spike heels have very long & thin heels, upto 7 inches, named after stiletto dagger.
There are various reasons which make women prefer high-heel shoes. Firstly, high-heels produce angulations between lower leg & feet – this leads to accentuation of calves. They change women's posture & gait, which definitely makes them more seductive. There is one reason which is very common, that is, they want to make them look taller. Overall, high-heels are just fine to make women look sexier.
Though used mainly by women, actually, high-heeled shoes were originated as male-footwear around 1500 to assist horse-riding. Till now, some of the male shoes also contain high heels, like cowboy shoes, Beatles' shoes etc.
High-heeled shoes may cause various medical foot-problems, like foot-pain, blisters, bunions etc. on prolonged use. Still no other shoes could give that ultimate sophistication to women's looks that high-heels offer.
